Softening expression lines, placed by the physician.

Botox® is an injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles that create expression lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes.

A physician injecting a patient's forehead with a fine needle during a Botox treatment.

How it works

Botox® is a purified botulinum toxin type A. Injected in very small amounts into a targeted muscle, it temporarily reduces that muscle’s movement, which softens the line the movement creates. It does not fill or add volume — for that, see fillers.

What a treatment involves

Treatment takes a short appointment. Effects appear gradually over several days and are temporary, so treatment is repeated periodically to maintain the effect. How long it lasts varies between individuals.

Is it right for you?

Botox® is not appropriate for everyone. Dr. Barsky will review your medical history, discuss the risks and side effects, and tell you if he does not think it is the right treatment for what is bothering you.
